My Mighty Dragon version 1.2.4

It has been a little while since I last posted about recent changes to the game, so let me highlight a few of the biggest and most exciting:

Animated dragons: You'll notice the difference immediately in battle mode, as the dragons look much more alive than they used to!
Challenge mode: For players looking for that extra challenge to tackle with their powerful dragon, this mode pits you against the dragon elders and their clans in the toughest battles yet!
More choices: You can now pick your dragon's gender and initial element right from the start of the game.
More customization: Your dragon's appearance now varies along with its color as you change elements, and can be changed even more by equipping the highest level passive abilities in each element.
Better accommodation: Since not all cameras and devices can scan barcodes equally well, players who aren't able to make hunting work can still customize their dragons with food rewards for fighting battles.

We are always working to make improvements and additions, the next large one being a new adventure, and we are always happy to hear your feedback and suggestions!

My Mighty Dragon v.1.2.0 (with Bluetooth multiplayer!)

posted Nov 30, 2012, 9:19 AM by Joshua Porter

The latest update is out, and it includes the long-awaited multiplayer feature! Current multiplayer modes include a 1 on 1 duel and cooperative survival against increasing waves of enemies. This is the beta release of this feature, so please be on the lookout for any remaining bugs and report them, as well as any suggestions you have for improvement.

Also in this update is a substantial technical improvement to the way system resources are used in battle mode, the result being that you should experience noticeably shorter load times when entering most battles. This also means that the game uses less of your device's memory when running.

Two relatively minor bug fixes in this update: Eating rotten food no longer provides any benefits for your dragon (it was mistakenly still providing the health bonus), and the game will no longer crash when interpreting a certain rare type of barcode result.

More importantly, this update allows for your dragon to talk to you in a more dynamic fashion. Expect to see your dragon keep you informed of things like current and upcoming changes to the game, tips for success, etc.

My Mighty Dragon v1.0.7 available today

Two very important changes in this version:
First, due to a spontaneous and unexpected change in the way responses to online product queries are delivered, scanned items that should have been assigned a real name and attributes were instead being made into generic items. This version updates the way the game interprets those responses so that it is once again able to properly extract the item name from them.
Second, there was a crash bug that caused users whose language/locale uses a comma instead of a period to separate whole numbers from decimal values to be unable to feed their dragon or enter battle. This should now be resolved.

My Mighty Dragon v1.0.6 available today

This update fixes a crash bug in the "Hunt" activity that occurred on devices with low pixel density screens. It was due to the fact that a slightly different visual layout is used for hunting on those devices, and there was a small error in the code for that layout that was not present in the layout used on higher density screens.

My Mighty Dragon v1.0.5 available today

There are two notable changes in this version. First, your dragon will now refuse to eat food whose scanned code contains improperly encoded non-latin characters. If you live in an English-speaking area, chances are you will never notice this change, as it only really affects non-English QR codes. Second, if you were getting a crash when trying to open the Hunt activity, it may now be working. A crash was occurring in rare cases where the app was unable to locate a graphical resource used in that activity. The implemented change allows the activity to proceed even if that resource is not located, but a side effect of this fix is that the image of your dragon's claws may not be visible in that situation.

Additionally, if you experience a crash and want it to be fixed as quickly as possible, please click the "report" button when the crash occurs. This sends a report to us that contains the exact error messages and locations in the code involved (no personal information at all), which is immensely helpful in finding the cause and creating a fix. If you find a bug that is not a crash or that does not give you the option to report it, an email to admin@viviparousstudios.com describing what happened will go a long way toward getting the issue resolved. This is our guarantee to you: if you report it, we will work to fix it ASAP and keep you updated along the way.

My Mighty Dragon Upcoming Features

For those of you who can't get enough of My Mighty Dragon, here's an update on what's coming down the line in terms of features and content.

Currently under development and proceeding very well is the multiplayer option indicated as "coming soon" on the battle screen. It will allow users to connect with a friend via Bluetooth and fight either with or against them in several different gameplay modes. Expect to see this feature relatively soon, hopefully within the coming month.

Following completion of the multiplayer feature, work will shift to a second adventure picking up the story where the first one left off. It's too early in the process to estimate a release date, but keep an eye on this page for the latest news as it becomes available.

Finally, bug fixes and compatibility updates are an ongoing process, and feedback is always appreciated. If you encounter a problem with the game, tell us! Every review and email to admin@viviparousstudios.com gets read. As some users can already attest, getting fixes implemented and released is our highest priority, and can sometimes even be done within a matter of hours.

My Mighty Dragon v.1.0.4 available today

posted Sep 24, 2012, 10:24 AM by Joshua Porter   [ updated Sep 24, 2012, 10:42 AM ]

Version 1.0.4 attempts to address the problem of no camera image being displayed in the "Hunt" screen on certain LG Optimus devices. As noted here, this problem occurs because the device tells the app that it supports a resolution it does not, resulting in no image being displayed at all when the app tries to use that resolution. The workaround implemented in this version is to force the resolution to be a known compatible one when running on the affected devices rather than relying on those devices to report their resolutions correctly. Feedback on this change would be appreciated from LG Optimus users or from anyone experiencing black screens in the hunting activity.
